Must read

In a significant move toward his 2027 governorship ambition, Dr. Gbenga Adegbola, governor hopeful for Oyo State, convened a crucial meeting on Saturday with key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Iseyin Local Government Area.

The gathering, characterized by strategic counsel and forthright dialogue, reinforced Dr. Adegbola’s growing political momentum and the rising call for an Oke-Ogun indigene to emerge as the next governor of the state.

Prominent party leaders, traditional influencers, and political stakeholders were in attendance, each offering candid advice to the aspirant.

Among them, Alhaji Yinusa Belerebe urged Dr. Adegbola to approach his governorship aspiration with firmness and strategic decisiveness. He emphasized the necessity for broader political alliances and stronger networks, both pre- and post-election, to enhance recognition and consolidate political gains.

Mr. Akinbode Moshood, the overall Chairman of all APC Ward Chairmen in Iseyin LGA, called on Dr. Adegbola to advocate for equitable political appointments across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State. This, he argued, would not only unify the party base but also solidify grassroots loyalty critical for electoral victory.

Reflecting the sentiment of regional loyalty, Hon. Layo Kehinde, a member of Ẹgbẹ́ Ifowosowopo fún Ilosiwaju Gbogbo Wa from Iseyin, declared that Oke-Ogun is firmly resolved to produce the next governor. He stressed that, moving forward, the Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa zones may withhold support from any candidate originating outside these regions, underscoring a strategic push for regional equity within the state’s political landscape.

Adding a tone of seasoned caution, Alhaji Adepoju Adelove, leader of the Iseyin APC Elders’ Forum, advised Dr. Adegbola to exercise prudence in his campaign rhetoric. He prayed for Dr. Adegbola’s success and admonished that words and actions be tailored to foster unity, avoid unnecessary controversies, and maintain the decorum expected of a gubernatorial aspirant.

Collectively, the stakeholders emphasized the necessity of building robust, cordial relationships across the APC structure. They reiterated Iseyin’s long-standing tradition of collective political decision, making and support for unified candidates, assuring Dr. Adegbola that he would enjoy the town’s full backing if he secured collective endorsement.

In his remarks, Dr. Gbenga Adegbola expressed profound appreciation for the stakeholders’ warm reception and sincere counsel. He called for religious tolerance and political inclusivity, stating, “Development only thrives where peace reigns.” Dr. Adegbola reiterated that beyond individual ambitions, the emergence of an Oke-Ogun governor in 2027 is crucial for equity, fairness, and balanced development across Oyo State.

Demonstrating his commitment to party strengthening and grassroots empowerment, Dr. Adegbola participated in the APC Oyo North Senatorial District Congress held in Iseyin, where strategic discussions on party stewardship and 2027 preparations were held.

At the event, he made a significant financial contribution, donating ₦100,000 to each of the 13 local government areas within the senatorial district, a total of ₦1,300,000. The gesture which was widely applauded as a tangible investment in party unity and grassroots mobilization.
