Academics, Communities Celebrate Prof. MM Akanbi’s Legacy at Book Launch

Must read

At Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, scholars, legal professionals, and community leaders gathered to launch “Footprints of a Giant”, honoring the late Professor Muhammad Mustapha Akanbi’s extraordinary life.

Professor Akanbi, who achieved remarkable milestones, became a professor at 41, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria at 47, and KWASU’s Vice Chancellor at 49, before passing away at 51.

KWASU’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Lukman Jimoh, described Akanbi as a paragon of excellence, emphasizing his servant leadership and commitment to academic development. He recalled Akanbi as more than an administrator—a mentor, guide, and friend who inspired lasting change through selfless service.

Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, Chairman of KWASU’s Governing Council, who unveiled the book, praised Akanbi as a “complete human being” dedicated and exemplary in every sense.

The event celebrated not just Akanbi’s life, but the profound ideals of integrity, scholarship, and humanity he represented. As Professor Musbau Akanji noted, despite his brief 32-month tenure, Akanbi’s transformational impact would endure in the hearts of those he touched.

The book launch united a community in remembering a distinguished academic whose legacy transcends his professional achievements.
