Saki West Local Government Area has emerged as one of the leading performers in the ongoing nationwide All Progressives Congress (APC) e-registration exercise, ranking second on the latest performance list released from the field, a development widely attributed to sustained grassroots mobilisation and strategic political engagement spearheaded by retired Colonel Dr. Gbenga Adegbola.
The impressive showing of Saki West has been described by party stakeholders as a clear justification of the extensive ward-to-ward and polling-unit-level tour earlier undertaken by Dr. Adegbola across Oyo State, particularly within Oke-Ogun axis, covering Saki West, Saki East and Atisbo Federal Constituency. The tour, which focused on direct engagement with party faithful, community leaders and registration officers, emphasized the importance of mass participation in the APC’s digital registration drive as a pathway to strengthening the party’s internal democracy and electoral competitiveness.
Data from the ongoing exercise indicate that Saki West’s second-place position places it firmly among the top five performing local governments nationwide, underscoring a remarkable turnaround for an area previously identified as needing aggressive mobilisation. Reacting to the development, Dr. Adegbola expressed deep appreciation to political stakeholders, elected and appointed office holders, party executives at all levels, and members of the APC Renewed Hope Ambassadors for what he described as “uncommon commitment and selfless service” to the success of the e-registration exercise. “This outcome shows what is possible when leadership meets collective responsibility,” Adegbola noted, while tasking party actors across the federal constituency to intensify mobilisation, particularly among youths, women and first-time registrants, to ensure broader inclusion and a stronger party database ahead of future electoral contests.
The retired military officer and governorship hopeful also recalled his recent inspection tour of registration centres across Oyo State, with special focus on Oke-Ogun communities, where he personally assessed operational challenges, encouraged registration officials, and consistently admonished residents to seize the opportunity to formally identify with the APC.
