The Akin Rotimi Jr. Constituency Office has successfully launched its ICT Training for Good Governance initiative, aimed at empowering grassroots leaders with essential digital skills.

The first phase of the program was held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Ikole Town Hall in Ikole-Ekiti.

This groundbreaking initiative was designed to equip local leaders with the technological tools and skills necessary to enhance governance and improve service delivery at the grassroots level.

By focusing on increasing digital literacy, the program aims to enable local officials to effectively engage with technology, streamline administrative processes, and better address the needs of their communities.

Sunkanmi Bamigboye, spokesman for the Akin Rotimi Jr. Constituency Office, emphasized the importance of the program, stating, “This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to empowering our people with the tools necessary for effective governance and improved service delivery.”

“We believe that with the right skills and resources, our leaders at the local level will be better equipped to make informed decisions and drive meaningful change within their communities.”

As part of the initiative, all participants received brand new laptops to support their ongoing use of technology in their governance roles. The Akin Rotimi Jr. Constituency Office also provided stipends to ensure participants are fully supported throughout the training process.

The beneficiaries of this first phase included all Councillors within the constituency and all Ward Youth Leaders, both of whom play key roles in grassroots mobilization and local leadership.

The ICT Training for Good Governance initiative is part of a larger effort by the Akin Rotimi Jr. Constituency Office to bridge the digital divide and ensure that local leaders are well-equipped to navigate the evolving technological landscape. By fostering digital literacy, the program aims to enhance transparency, increase efficiency, and promote better governance across Ikole-Ekiti.
