The Association of Muslim Secondary School Old Students (AMSSOS), Saki, has described as false and misleading the inclusion of Muslim Secondary School, Saki in a recent publication by Daily News NG titled “Sustaining the Future of Oyo: BAF’s 56 ICT/CBT Centres in Oyo North.”
The online report, which credited Senator Fatai Buhari (PhD) with facilitating 56 ICT/CBT Centres across Oyo North, listed Muslim Secondary School, Saki among the supposed beneficiaries.
In a statement released by the Association’s Executive Committee, AMSSOS clarified that no ICT/CBT centre currently exists within the premises of Muslim Secondary School, Saki, and that the report is factually inaccurate.
“We wish to state unequivocally that Muslim Secondary School, Saki does not have any ICT or CBT facility facilitated under the programme mentioned. The listing of our school in the publication is incorrect and misleading,” the statement reads.
The Association expressed concern that such misinformation could mislead the public, alumni, and stakeholders, and potentially drag the school into political controversy.
AMSSOS therefore urged Daily News NG and the author of the article to immediately review and correct the report to reflect the true situation, warning against the politicization of educational matters.
“Our alumni body has been working tirelessly to improve infrastructure and learning conditions at the school through legitimate partnerships and personal contributions. It is unfair to associate our institution with projects not implemented here,” the statement added.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the school through verified initiatives, including technology upgrades, classroom renovations, and student support programmes — all driven by alumni and community efforts.
AMSSOS also called on journalists to uphold the principles of accuracy and verification in their reports, particularly when such publications involve public figures and educational institutions.
