It was a thug of war between the incumbent senator representing Oyo North senatorial district, Sen. Fatai Omotayo Buhari and Honorable representing Iseyin, itesiwaju, Iwajowa and Kajola federal constituency, Hon. Shina Abiola Peller on who to represent the constituency for 10th assembly on All Progressive Congress (APC) platform in the upcoming election.
The primary scheduled to hold on Saturday 28/05/2022 at Iseyin was disrupted by violence as a result of irregularities by supporters of both aspirants.
The election was later shifted to Sunday 29 at Oyo State Agricultural Development Agency (OYSADA) headquarters sport complex in Saki.
It started with accreditation of voters and followed with casting of votes under the monitoring of security and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials.
After the conclusion of the vote, Sen. Fatai Buhari polled 570 votes, Shina Peller polled 5 votes, Hon. Saheed Yusuff polled 6 votes, Mrs. Adeboyin Oladokun 4 votes, Sola Ogunbode with zero votes and 7 votes were void.
The primary election was supervised by Ayotunde Olowofoyekan.
