A devastating road accident in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, claimed at least fifteen lives today. The crash involved a truck, an 18-passenger bus, and a Micra commercial vehicle, and occurred at around 10:00 AM at the Agbowo Junction area of the Ojoo-Iwo Road expressway.
Eyewitness Mr. Fuad Akorede, who was present at the scene and whose own vehicle was damaged in the collision, reported that the accident was caused by a brake failure on the truck.
According to Akorede, the truck, traveling from Iwo Road towards Ojoo, lost control and collided with both the bus and the Micra. The impact forced the vehicles into a nearby ditch.
The fatalities, including men, women, and children, have been taken to an undisclosed morgue. The injured passengers have been transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Emergency responders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigerian Police, and Nigerian Army, are currently at the scene to manage the aftermath and ensure public safety.
Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the full cause and circumstances of the crash.
