- Host Stakeholders on Economic, Social Development
In a bid to drive economic and social development through renewable energy, De-Janees Concepts Limited, with the support of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the World Bank Group, convened a high-level community sensitization meeting at Saki City Hall on Wednesday.
The session focused on the proposed 250MW Solar-Wind Turbine Hybrid Mini-Grid designed to provide stable and sustainable electricity to Saki West, Saki East, and Atisbo Local Government Areas.
The Executive Director of De-Janees Concepts Limited, Engr. Isaiah Fatokun, delivered an insightful presentation on the project, outlining its potential to transform the region’s economy. He emphasized that the solar-wind hybrid system would provide clean, affordable, and reliable electricity, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and erratic grid supply.
“This project is a game-changer for the people of Saki and its environs. It will enhance business operations, improve local industries, and create job opportunities while addressing the power challenges that have hindered economic growth in the region,” Fatokun stated.
He further elaborated on the tariff structure and meter costs, specifying that the single-phase meter would cost ₦145,000, while the three-phase meter would be ₦245,000. He assured the community that the pricing model was designed to be fair and sustainable, ensuring affordability while maintaining high service quality.
Hon. Adejumobi Samuel Ademola (Agbarajesupo) stressed the critical role of community support and patronage in ensuring the project’s success. He urged residents and business owners to embrace the initiative, stating that their engagement would enhance service efficiency and foster long-term sustainability.
Similarly, HRM Oba Dr. Surv. Khalid Olabisi Ayinla Ado Ilugbemidepo, the Okere of Saki, expressed his profound appreciation for the initiative. He commended De-Janees Concepts Limited and its partners for bringing such a groundbreaking development to the region.
“This project represents a significant milestone in the history of our community. I urge the contractors to ensure quality execution, and I call on all residents to cooperate fully to facilitate the smooth implementation of this transformative initiative,” the monarch stated.
The sensitization meeting provided a platform for community stakeholders to seek clarifications on various aspects of the project. Concerns raised included execution timelines, operational models, service quality, and cost implications.
Alhaji AbdRaheem Ojolowo, Chairman of the Oke-Ogun Artisan Association, acknowledged the Okere of Saki for his developmental efforts and appealed to De-Janees Concepts Limited to consider the financial burden on local artisans. He emphasized that affordable electricity is crucial for their businesses and called for a reduction in meter costs to ease accessibility.
Similarly, Yekeen Wasiu, a representative of the transport sector, urged the project developers to make provisions for low-income earners, stating that high costs could limit access for economically disadvantaged groups.
Hon. Busari Mudasiru Eruobodo and Barrister Sarafadeen Onijo posed critical questions regarding the project’s corporate social responsibility (CSR). They emphasized that while the company is here for business, it must also give back to the community through social service initiatives.
Responding to the concerns, Prince Subuade Abayomi, the project consultant from Abuja, provided comprehensive answers. He reassured the attendees that the company would prioritize transparency, efficiency, and sustainability, urging the community to embrace the service for long-term benefits.
To facilitate ease of access, Oluwatobi Olaiya, a representative of Access Bank Plc, educated attendees on available financing options. He detailed how residents could apply for meters through Access Bank and outlined flexible payment methods to ensure affordability.

The 250MW Solar-Wind Hybrid Mini-Grid represents a significant step toward sustainable development in Saki West, Saki East, and Atisbo LGAs.
