Community stakeholders in Saki West have hailed with profound gratitude the efforts invested by Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Were and the late Hon. Nasirudeen Aribidesi Nascotech in shaping the contemporary political and developmental future of the area.
The recent judgement by the Court of Appeal that paved the way for the additional state constituency in Saki West was greeted with jubilation, and many argue that this development must be credited to the untiring efforts of these two prominent individuals, among others, who dedicated their leadership and resources to the service and improvement of their communities.
Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Were, who represented Saki West, Saki East, and Atisbo in the House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, was instrumental in instituting the legal case that eventually led to the court’s favourable judgement, which was not in doubt, just as he was instrumental in securing the funding for the legal battle.
According to an individual who prefers anonymity, he had the foresight and has been committedly working towards more constituencies that would be assigned to the area in order for the people of Saki West and the bigger community of Oyo State not to be prejudiced.
The late Hon. Nasirudeen Aribidesi Nascotech, Chairman of Saki West Local Government for the same period, also made equal importance. His leadership is remembered by the stakeholders with strategic development projects, support to the community, and political inclusiveness. It was during his time that the foundation for legal and political developments, with an emphasis on sustainable growth and fair representation, was laid.
Both of them, being the champions of teamwork in governance, were able to trigger off a political movement that now promises more opportunities for the people of Saki West.
Both leaders have been important in shaping such a future where local voices are represented at the state level in a more robust manner—a development widely regarded as an outcome of their dedication to the people.
Local leaders and stakeholders have praised the late Hon. Nascotech for his relentless service to stand as an uncompromising voice for the community during his tenure of office as chairman while embracing Hon. Were with courtesy for her courage and determination to negotiate the labyrinth of courts for this great transformation.
He added that the collaborative efforts among the indigenes, or Saki, are driving a desired change that the town needed and urged everyone to keep contributing to the success of the town.
This will, in addition, create an added constituency that will ensure balanced representation, engender community development, and make the voice of Saki West heard even louder at the state level, to fulfill what these two iconic leaders have envisioned.
