The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive materials for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday.

The process is currently taking place at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) premises located at Akpakpava Junction on the Ring Road in Benin City.

As the distribution unfolds, significant traffic disruptions have been reported in the area, with only one lane open to vehicles on the busy road. This has led to gridlock, as commercial activities have been suspended to facilitate the operation. Hired vehicles, designated for transporting the sensitive materials to the 18 local government areas of the state, have been stationed alongside the CBN.

The atmosphere at the distribution site is bustling, with hundreds of journalists from various print and electronic media outlets present to cover the event. Their focus is on documenting the critical logistics involved in preparing for the election.

Supervising the distribution, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Onuoha Anugbum, confirmed the commencement of the process to reporters. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all materials are securely delivered to the respective locations in a timely manner.

As the election approaches, INEC continues to work diligently to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process, reinforcing its commitment to upholding democratic principles in the state.
