Reverend Felix Omobude, the former national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), has issued a call to action for the people of Edo State, particularly Christians, to actively participate in the upcoming governorship election.
Omobude emphasized that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) counts votes, not prayers, underscoring the importance of voter engagement in the democratic process.
In a statement, Omobude encouraged eligible voters to make use of their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) to exercise their right to vote in the September 21 election. He stressed that voting is a critical component of democracy that allows citizens to select their leaders based on merit and personal choice.
The former PFN president highlighted the need for Edo State voters to choose a credible candidate, reflecting on the democratic opportunity they have to influence the leadership of their state. He urged the electorate to demonstrate their political awareness and maturity by resisting any attempts at political intimidation from influential figures or “godfathers.”
Omobude advised voters to thoroughly examine the track records of the candidates running in the election, making their choices based on merit and reliability rather than mere promises. While he emphasized the importance of active participation, he also encouraged voters to pray for peace throughout the electoral process, including before, during, and after the election.
