Hon. Busari Mudasiru Eruobodo, a Board Member of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) and also former chairman of Saki West Local Government has urged students, particularly the youth, to prioritize productive courses in higher institutions. He emphasized that education is not just a pathway to success but a powerful tool for achieving and sustaining it.
The former Chairman made this assertion during the inauguration ceremony of the new executive of the National Union of Saki Students (NUSS) National Headquarters, held at the Saki City Hall.
Addressing the gathering of students, academics, and dignitaries, Hon. Eruobodo emphasized the transformative power of education, asserting that success is not solely predicated on acquiring educational qualifications but on the strategic application of knowledge to navigate and shape one’s future.
“Education should not be seen as a mere ticket to success. It is, instead, a potent weapon that, when wielded effectively, allows individuals to not only attain success but also to sustain it amidst evolving societal and economic challenges,” he stated.
He underscored the importance of education in equipping individuals with the tools necessary for innovation, leadership, and resilience. He noted that while degrees and certifications are valuable, their true worth lies in how individuals harness their knowledge to create opportunities, contribute to society, and lead meaningful lives.
“We must redefine our approach to education. It is not about merely passing through school but about allowing education to pass through us, shaping our perspectives and equipping us to take control of our destinies,” he added.
Hon. Eruobodo further called for a shift from theoretical learning to practical, skill-based education that aligns with the needs of the modern world. He stressed the need for policies that encourage entrepreneurship, critical thinking, and problem-solving among students.
He challenged student leaders, particularly the newly inaugurated NUSS executives, to leverage their education to drive positive change within their communities. He urged them to be proactive in fostering development-oriented initiatives that would benefit their peers and society at large.
“Leadership is not about holding a title; it is about impact. Your education should serve as a foundation upon which you build your vision for the future. As you assume office, let your actions reflect the empowerment that education brings.”
The inauguration ceremony, attended by notable stakeholders in the education sector, saw the newly elected executives of NUSS take their oath of office with a pledge to serve with diligence and integrity.
Hon. Adamawa commended the outgoing administration for its efforts and urged the new leadership to be relentless in advocating for student welfare, educational reforms, and community development.
