Must read

The Federal Government has commenced emergency repairs on a critical 7-kilometer stretch of the Lagos-Sango-Otta-Abeokuta road, a route that has suffered from significant neglect in recent years.

The announcement was made on October 2nd by Uchenna Orji, Special Adviser Media to the Minister of Works.

In his statement, Orji underscored the government’s dedication to resolving pressing infrastructure challenges that have affected commuters in the region.

He described the repair initiative as part of the broader “Operation Free Our Roads” program, which aims to enhance the condition of federal roadways across Nigeria.

“The Federal Ministry of Works, under the leadership of His Excellency, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON, is committed to providing relief to motorists and commuters on all federal roads nationwide,” Orji stated.

The deteriorating condition of the Lagos-Abeokuta road has led to growing frustration among motorists and local residents. Many have reported increased travel times and heightened safety concerns due to the road’s poor state.

The government’s prompt action reflects an acknowledgment of these issues and a commitment to improving the overall travel experience for those who rely on this vital transportation route.

As repairs begin, stakeholders in the region are hopeful that the initiative will lead to safer and more efficient travel, ultimately supporting economic activity and connectivity between Lagos and Abeokuta.

The government’s efforts are anticipated to bring much-needed relief to those who depend on this essential road for daily commuting and transport of goods.
