The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has issued a stern warning that officials of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) found culpable in the controversial apartment-for-prison scandal involving notorious cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, commonly known as Bobrisky, will face serious repercussions.
This statement comes in the wake of rampant speculation on social and traditional media regarding allegations that certain NCoS officials facilitated a private apartment for Bobrisky, allowing him to serve his six-month sentence for naira abuse outside of the prison environment. Bobrisky was sentenced by a federal high court in Lagos earlier this year.
During a media briefing in Abuja to mark his first year in office, Tunji-Ojo emphasized the government’s commitment to integrity within the correctional system.
“I assure you that any personnel or officer of the Nigeria Correctional Service found involved in this ongoing investigation will not go unpunished,” he declared.
