Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun, the Federal Representative for Saki West/Saki East/Atisbo, has congratulated Dr. (Mrs.) Fatima Florence Ajimobi following the submission of her name to the National Assembly as one of 32 ambassadorial nominees forwarded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The nomination list which includes 17 non-career and 15 career diplomats was transmitted to the Senate on Friday, with Ms. Ajimobi named among the non-career ambassadorial designates.
In a statement issued through Sheu Shittu Maigida, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Abisodun described the nomination as a fitting recognition of Ajimobi’s record of public service, humanitarian work and advocacy for women and children in Oyo State and beyond. He said the development would project Oyo State positively on the global stage and urged relevant national institutions to accord the nomination speedy and thorough consideration.
Hon. Abisodun widely known in his district and beyond as “Hon. Kareem Were”, and a serving member of the House of Representatives used the occasion to salute Ajimobi’s longstanding involvement in social and philanthropic initiatives, noting that the appointment would reward years of civic engagement.
Fatima Florence Ajimobi, wife of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, has for years been active in social welfare, women’s empowerment and charitable projects across Oyo State. Her inclusion on the ambassadorial list has been framed by supporters as recognition of both her humanitarian record and her capacity to serve Nigeria diplomatically. Local and national outlets have carried reports applauding her nomination.
The ambassadorial nominations are now before the National Assembly for screening and confirmation. Should the Senate grant confirmation, the nominees will proceed to appointment and posting by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Until then, backers and well-wishers — including representatives from Ajimobi’s home state — will continue to publicly endorse the nomination and call for an expeditious confirmation process.
