In a series of high-level courtesy visits aimed at fostering collaboration and mutual understanding ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr. Gbenga Adegbola, a retired military Colonel and gubernatorial aspirant, has engaged critical security agencies and political stakeholders across Oyo State.
Dr. Adegbola, a retired military Colonel with a growing political presence, furthered his tour with a familiarization visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo State Command. He was accompanied by his campaign team and warmly received by the State Commandant, Augustine Padonu, and senior officers of the command.
In his remarks, Dr. Adegbola commended the NSCDC for its consistent efforts in maintaining internal security, protecting lives and property, and safeguarding critical infrastructure within the state. He stressed the need for enhanced synergy between political actors and security institutions.
Responding, Commandant Padonu expressed his appreciation for the visit, describing it as a welcome step towards fostering civil-security relations. He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to professionalism, neutrality, and its constitutional mandate to protect the Nigerian populace, regardless of political affiliation.
Continuing his engagement, Dr. Adegbola also paid a courtesy call on the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Adenola, at the State Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan. During the meeting, Dr. Adegbola acknowledged the vital role of the police in upholding law and order, He called for enhanced collaboration between political stakeholders and law enforcement agencies to safeguard democratic processes.
In his response, CP Adenola assured Dr. Adegbola of the police command’s unwavering dedication to ensuring a secure and level playing field for all political actors. He emphasized that the police remain apolitical and committed to enforcing the law impartially across the state.
Further solidifying his political groundwork, Dr. Adegbola visited Barrister Dr. (Chief) Tirimisiyu Ayanlowo Obisesan, a former commissioner, legal luminary, and revered statesman of All Progressives Congress in Oyo State. The visit, which took place at Barr. Obisesan’s chamber, was described by Dr. Adegbola as a gesture of respect and an opportunity to seek mentorship from a seasoned figure in the state’s political history.
Dr. Adegbola praised Barr. Obisesan for his enduring legacy of public service and impactful contributions to Oyo State’s governance and development. In turn, Barr. Obisesan lauded Dr. Adegbola’s initiative and urged him to remain principled, service-oriented, and resilient in his political aspirations.
