Oyo State Governor hopeful, Dr. Gbenga Adegbola, embarked on a sweeping familiarization visit across five local government areas of Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, Kajola and Iseyin to complete his tour across the Oke Ogun Zone. His visit was met with an outpouring of support from traditional rulers, community leaders, and All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders who pledged unwavering commitment to his gubernatorial aspirations in 2027.
The tour, which combined strategic consultations, royal engagements, and political dialogues, marked a significant step in Dr. Adegbola’s bid to consolidate support in the Oke Ogun region—a zone long regarded as the agricultural backbone of Oyo State but widely believed to have been marginalized in state governance for decades.
One of the high points of the visit was the symbolic gathering of revered traditional rulers who did not only bestow their royal blessings upon Dr. Adegbola but also sounded a clarion call for political emancipation of the Oke Ogun region.
Oba Sunday Adepoju Ayilola, the Oniro of Otuland, passionately declared the time ripe for Oke Ogun to break the “curse of decades-long exclusion” from the seat of power in Agodi.
“It is time to rise with full force and claim our righteous seat, this is no longer a political movement; it is a generational mandate.” The monarch proclaimed, urging all sons and daughters of Oke Ogun to rally behind Dr. Adegbola’s ambition.
In a more reflective tone, Oba (Rev.) John Oyebanji Odedokun Ayinla III shared past confrontations and unresolved grievances between Oke Ogun traditional leaders and the current state administration.
While expressing hope for a new political dawn, he pleaded for Dr. Adegbola’s proactiveness in navigating the complexities of state governance.
“You must not only lead but listen, act, and deliver,” he advised, concluding with fervent prayers for the realization of the Oke Ogun dream in 2027.
Adding a personal touch to the narrative, Oba Soliu Oyemonla Azeez recounted his days of camaraderie with Dr. Adegbola during their shared military service. The monarch praised the aspirant’s discipline, leadership, and passion for regional development.
“He has not only returned home with vision but with a tested resolve to bring real transformation to Oke Ogun.”
The Aseyin of Iseyin and the Onitede of Tede both commended Dr. Adegbola for his courage and determination to challenge the status quo. Describing his ambition as both bold and necessary, they jointly offered prayers for divine guidance and protection, urging the people of Oke Ogun to close ranks and support one of their own.
“This is not a journey for one man but a mission for an entire people,” the Aseyin declared. “We have waited long enough; we must act with unity and purpose.”
Beyond the palaces, Dr. Adegbola also met with APC stakeholders across the five LGAs, where he received resounding endorsements. Party leaders commended his outreach, vision, and deep-rooted connection to the region. They pledged their support towards mobilizing the grassroots, consolidating voter education, and ensuring a strong showing in the 2027 general elections.
Addressing party faithfuls, Dr. Adegbola expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming reception and reaffirmed his commitment to equitable development, security, education, and agricultural transformation.
