Dr. Gbenga Adegbola, a respected technocrat and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has embarked on a comprehensive consultation tour across Oyo State. The tour has included strategic visits to key royal fathers, underscoring the vital role of traditional institutions in state governance and community development.

Dr. Adegbola’s royal engagements commenced with a high-profile courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, the Alaafin of Oyo. The visit, which held symbolic and political significance, saw the gubernatorial hopeful formally declare his intention to contest for the governorship of Oyo State in the forthcoming election cycle.

During the meeting, Dr. Adegbola congratulated the newly enthroned monarch on his ascension to the revered stool of the Alaafin and sought his royal blessings and support for his political journey. He emphasized the historical and cultural importance of the Oyo Kingdom and reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with traditional rulers to foster peace, unity, and development across the state.

“The traditional institution is not just a custodian of our heritage; it is a partner in governance and progress. This visit is more than political—it is about building enduring relationships rooted in mutual respect and collaboration,” Dr. Adegbola said.

In response, Oba Owoade expressed appreciation for the visit and described Dr. Adegbola’s ambition as noble and timely. Drawing on his own long-standing ties to the town of Saki, where he lived for over a decade, the Alaafin offered prayers for wisdom, strength, and divine favor upon the aspirant’s journey.

As part of his state-wide outreach, Dr. Adegbola also paid homage to other notable royal fathers. In Akinmorin, he was warmly received by His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Iyiola Olayemi Gbadewolu I, the Amorin of Akinmorin. The monarch commended Dr. Adegbola’s commitment to inclusive governance and encouraged him to maintain humility and prioritize service to the people. Royal prayers and blessings were offered in support of his candidacy.

Continuing his tour, Dr. Adegbola visited the palace of the Oniware of Iwareland, HRM Oba Abdrasheed Adeniyi Owoade Adetunji Oyerinade. He reiterated his vision for a reformed Oyo State built on the pillars of education, healthcare, infrastructure, and rural development. Oba Oyerinade, in turn, described the visit as a mark of respect and responsibility and assured the politician of the goodwill of the Iware people.

In Fiditi, Dr. Adegbola met with the Onifiditi, HRM Oba Sakiru Oyewole Adekola Oyelere Ajani-Edu II, Agbadewolu I. The monarch lauded the aspirant’s grassroots engagement strategy and called for peaceful, issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 polls. “Leadership must be about the people, not self-interest. I am encouraged by your approach and pray for your success,” Oba Oyelere stated.

Complementing his royal visits, Dr. Adegbola also met with APC stakeholders in Afijio Local Government. The meeting, held in Jobele, attracted party chieftains, ward leaders, and youth representatives. Dr. Adegbola emphasized strategic unity within the APC and outlined his development-focused agenda, particularly in agriculture, education, and youth empowerment.
