In a concerted effort to foster a culture of accountability and civic responsibility among the youth in Nasarawa State, the GreenLight Initiative organized a transformative event at Nasarawa State Polytechnic. The initiative aimed to sensitize and empower young leaders to demand accountability not only in government but also in public and private sectors.
The event, held at Nasarawa State Polytechnic, brought together youth leaders from across the state, creating a platform for the exchange of ideas and strategies to encourage accountability. The focus of the initiative was on student union leaders and students, urging them to play an active role in demanding transparency in various sectors.
The GreenLight Initiative, known for its commitment to youth empowerment and civic engagement, engaged participants in insightful discussions and workshops on the importance of accountability in governance, public services, and the private sector. Speakers at the event emphasized the pivotal role that young leaders can play in shaping a more transparent and accountable society.
Mr. Abdulrasheed, a representative of the organisation, addressed the gathering, saying, “Our aim is to empower the youth to be the driving force behind positive change in our society. By instilling the values of accountability, we believe they can contribute significantly to creating a more responsible and transparent Nigeria.” This, according to him, is key to achieving the NigeriaWeWant.Â
The program didn’t end with the event at Nasarawa State Polytechnic. Following the enlightening sessions, a comprehensive campaign was launched around various schools in Nasarawa State. This campaign aims to spread awareness among students about the importance of accountability and equip them with the knowledge and skills to demand transparency from their leaders.
Local community leaders commended the GreenLight Initiative for their inclusive proactive approach to addressing the critical issue of accountability, noting that involving the youth is a strategic move for sustainable change.
