A non-governmental organization and Developmental group known as Hope Never Dies (HND) has awarded several outstanding students of Saki West local government who displayed exceptional brilliance in the just concluded quiz competition organised by the group.
The event commenced on February 28 which started with primary school quiz competition span through March 1 for secondary School edition and took March 12 for lecture and prize given.
The competition was a tough one which had over 30 schools in participation and awarded six schools for top three position in both primary and the secondary categories.
According to the convener of the group, Hon. Salaudeen Kabeer Adebayo who is doubled as councilor representing ward 4 of Saki West local Government said the event was staged to encourage education in the society either formal or informal because the society has been faced with negativity which discourage strong effort in learning like before.
He stressed forward that the only way to revive the believe in education is to promptly come up with rewarding competition that will stimulate the love for the exercise in the mind of teeming population.
The chairman Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureini Aderemi Adeniran who was the guest lecture took people through the path of informal and formal education as a tool for Development in the third world countries and promise to review the curriculum of primary education in the state in order to set pace in giving functional educational system.
At primary school level of the competition, Faith Schools and College came first, Distinct Model College came second while Community Primary School Ajegunle came third.At Secondary level, Sharon Rose College took the topmost position, Ansaruldeen Comprehensive College followed as first runner up and Choice College came as second runner-up.
At individual level, Adeyinka Success of Sharon Rose came first and received a price of 15,000 Naira from Organiser and series of prizes from invited guests, Adigun David Olabamiji of Baptist Medical Center Secondary School came second with cash prize of 10,000 Naira and series of prizes from Guest while Balogun Zainab Temitope of Ansarudeen Comprehensive College came third with cash prize of #5,000 and series of gift from guests.
Some of the participants were awarded based on departmental brilliance too and series of gift were distributed to them.
While giving keynote address, Dr. Y.Y Muslim pointed out the reason why serious attention needs to be giving to our educational system in the country and devoid the focus on formal sector only. He stressed that combination of the two methods will complement each other and give positive results to the society.
The Chairman Oyo state House of Assembly Commission, Dr. Musah Abdulwasi also commended the efforts of the organizers and charged the local and zonal government to partner with the organisation for similar program at Oke Ogun zonal level in order to promote educational system of the zone.
The event was graced by representative of Saki West at Oyo state House of Assembly, Hon. Femi Julius Okedoyin, The commissioner of Agriculture, Hon. Niyi Adebisi, Chairman Oyo State House of Assembly Commission, Hon. Dr. Musah Abdulwasi, The political Head Asabari LCDA, Hon. Mudasiru Eruobodo, Dr. Y.Y Muslim, Special Assistance to Oyo State governor on political matter, Hon. Lukman Adamawa and other important personnel.
