…Over 1,500 Youths to Benefit from Life-Changing Skills Training
In a decisive move to tackle unemployment and promote self-reliance among young people, the Oyo State Governmen has rolled out a comprehensive skills acquisition programme through a collaboration between the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives & Investment.
The 3-day intensive training, scheduled to hold from Tuesday, November 4 to Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Adamasingba Sports Complex, Ibadan, will equip over 1,500 participants with hands-on technical skills in CCTV installation, solar panel setup, security fencing systems, and automated doors.
Speaking at the unveiling of the initiative, Hon. Adeniyi Olabode Adebisi, Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperative, said the programme demonstrates the government’s renewed commitment to building a stronger, more innovative Oyo State.
“This is not just another empowerment programme; it is a deliberate effort to nurture a generation of skilled and employable youths capable of driving industrial and economic growth,” Hon. Adebisi said.
He further emphasized that the partnership aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde’s broader vision to transform Oyo State into a hub for innovation, productivity, and sustainable development.
Also speaking, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, commended Governor Makinde for his unwavering support for youth-focused policies and initiatives.
“This programme is more than a training exercise — it’s a life-changing opportunity for our young people. The governor’s vision is clear: empower the youth, and you empower the state,” Falana said.
Participants are expected to receive starter kits and post-training mentorship to ensure sustainability and practical application of their newly acquired skills.
With this initiative, Hon. Niyi Adebisi continues to champion Governor Seyi Makinde’s human capital development agenda, proving once again that strategic investment in youth empowerment remains the surest path to a prosperous Oyo State.
