Ibadan Circular Road: Oyo Gov’t to Begin Re-Verification of Land Owners

The Oyo State Government has announced the commencement of a re-verification exercise for land owners and claimants affected by the acquisition of lands on Segment 1 of the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road, from Alago to Ajota. The re-verification is part of efforts to ensure accurate documentation and proper compensation for those impacted by the land acquisition.

A statement issued by the state government disclosed that the exercise will be conducted by the monitoring team overseeing the payment of compensation to the affected land owners and claimants. The team is headed by Retired Commissioner of Police, Sunday Odukoya.

The re-verification will take place at the Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan, starting on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., and is expected to conclude by Sunday, December 22, 2024.

To ensure a smooth and efficient process, the monitoring team has outlined specific documents that land owners and claimants must bring to the exercise. These include: Local government identification certificate, Residence permit for non-indigenes of the state, Land purchase agreement, National Identification Number (NIN).

Also Two current passport photographs, Letter of power of attorney from the Ministry of Justice for proxy purposes, Bank details, Survey plan of the property or farmland, Photograph of the property or farmland, Sworn affidavit from the court or Ministry of Justice, Two passport photographs of the guarantor, as well as the surveyor’s means of identification.

Additionally, the exercise will be conducted in batches. The monitoring team has advised land owners and claimants to visit the Ministry of Lands on Friday, December 13, 2024, to determine which batch they fall into.

The re-verification exercise is a crucial step in ensuring that compensation for land acquisition is properly administered, and the government has urged all affected land owners and claimants to comply with the requirements and attend the re-verification exercise within the stipulated period.
