Igbeti Agog as Monarch Celebrates One Year on Throne

Igbeti, a historic town in Olorunsogo Local Government Area of Oyo State, was agog today as the Onigbeti of Igbeti, Oba Bashir Olalekan Abioye (Ilufemiloye II), marked his one-year reign with a grand celebration. The event, which took place at the center ground of Igbeti town, was a convergence of prominent personalities, traditional rulers, and well-wishers who gathered to pay homage to the revered king.

The anniversary celebration featured a series of activities, including a special coronation ceremony, cultural displays, and the conferment of awards on distinguished individuals who have contributed immensely to the development of Igbeti and its environs.

Among the dignitaries present at the event were Hon. Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed, who represents Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly; renowned businessman Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun (IBD Dende); and legal luminary Barrister Ahmed Raji (SAN). The occasion also witnessed the presence of highly respected traditional rulers from the Oke-Ogun region, including the Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Olabisi Oyedepo II, the Iba of Kisi, Oba Mashood Aweda Lawal Arowoduye II, and other first-class monarchs from across the region.

Speaking at the event, Oba Bashir Abioye expressed gratitude to the people of Igbeti for their unwavering support throughout his reign. He highlighted the strides his administration has taken in fostering peace, unity, and development within the town. The monarch emphasized his commitment to promoting culture, ensuring security, and improving the socio-economic landscape of Igbeti.

“I am deeply honored to serve as the custodian of our traditions and to lead Igbeti towards greater progress. This one-year journey has been remarkable, and I assure you all that my reign will continue to bring prosperity and positive transformation to our community,” the Onigbeti stated.

In his goodwill message, Hon. Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed lauded the leadership qualities of the monarch and reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that will further enhance the development of Igbeti and its people.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to outstanding individuals who have contributed to the growth of Igbeti in various capacities. Beneficiaries included traditional leaders, business magnates, and community development advocates.

As the celebration drew to a close, guests were treated to a cultural display of traditional music, dance, and performances that reflected the rich heritage of the Igbeti people. The event not only reaffirmed the monarch’s role as a unifying figure but also reinforced the collective aspirations of the people towards progress and development.
