The Federal Government has issued a strong warning to individuals, groups, and organizations involved in the illegal sale or purchase of federal properties across Oyo State, cautioning that any unauthorized transaction involving such assets constitutes a serious violation of the law and will be prosecuted accordingly.
In a public notice released by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the government identified several high-value federal properties currently being targeted for illegal sales, stressing that none of them are available for purchase.
The listed properties include the Africa Regional Centre for Engineering Design and Manufacturing (ARCEDEM) at Olodo, Ibadan; the Federal Low-Cost Estate and Site and Services at Idi-Ayure, Oyo; the Federal Housing Scheme in Saki; the National Strategic Grain Reserve Programme at Iyande Church Area, Ibadan; Radio Nigeria Property at Basorun, Ibadan; and the National Horticultural Research Institute Property at Ajalubosa, Alesinloye Area, Ibadan.
According to the statement signed by the ministry, the affected properties collectively cover several hectares of land and are legally owned by the Federal Government of Nigeria, its ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as international partners. The ministry emphasized that any attempt by private individuals or corporate entities to acquire, lease, or negotiate the sale of these assets would amount to unauthorized dealings, rendering such transactions null and void.
“Any person or entity attempting to purchase or who might have purchased or derived title from anybody or entity, or negotiated the sale of these properties or any part thereof, will be considered to be engaging in unauthorized dealings and will be doing or might have done so at his or her own peril,” the notice warned.
The ministry further clarified that no federal agency has been mandated to dispose of or privatize the aforementioned properties, adding that all legitimate government property transactions are conducted through transparent, verifiable, and legally approved channels. It also warned prospective investors to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any property claims through the ministry or the appropriate government agencies before engaging in any transaction.
The public notice, which has been widely circulated across Oyo State, particularly in Ibadan, Oyo, and Saki, follows reports of fraudulent attempts by private individuals and unauthorized groups to market or sell parcels of federal land and estate property. The government, therefore, reiterated its determination to safeguard national assets from encroachment, unauthorized transfer, or exploitation for personal gain.
Residents and stakeholders in the affected areas have been urged to report any suspicious activities or offers related to the listed federal properties to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, security agencies, or relevant government authorities.
