New Leadership at The Institution as the Rector and Registrar Set to Usher in a New Era of Progress
The Polytechnic Iresi has appointed Dr. Olakunle Adewoyin as its new Rector, alongside a newly appointed Registrar, Mr. Samuel Olakunle Ojo. The newly principal officers paid a courtesy and familiarization visit to the institution on Wednesday, September 19, and are set to resume their roles fully on October 2.
In his address to the academic and non-academic staff of the institution, Dr. Adewoyin described his appointment as a “call to service” and a privilege. He pledged to use the opportunity for the development of both the institution and the larger Iresi community.
Dr. Adewoyin, a seasoned academic with decades of experience in the university and polytechnic sectors, holds a Ph.D. in Banking and Finance. He is also a professional banker, manager, and administrator, and previously served as the Dean of the Faculty of Financial Studies at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. He expressed confidence in his preparedness for the task ahead.
Outlining his vision for the institution, Dr. Adewoyin emphasized an open policy, transparency, and the fear of God as guiding principles. He promised to work collaboratively with staff to identify and solve problems, encourage feedback, and welcome constructive criticism from all stakeholders in taking the institution to new heights.
Dr. Adewoyin also pledged prudence and transparency in his administration, while committing to prioritize the welfare of staff. “The staff are the engine that drives the institution,” he remarked. “Their welfare will be my priority. We will ensure a structure that places each staff member at the appropriate level and provides clear criteria for promotion.”
On academic standards, Dr. Adewoyin made it clear that the Polytechnic Iresi would maintain high moral and academic standards, adding that staff and student development were key components of his agenda. “I will identify academic staff who will lead research and publication efforts, and we will organize workshops on writing quality journal and conference papers. Additionally, the institution will host its maiden conference soon, inviting participation from other institutions.”
During an inspection of various departments, laboratories, and studios, Dr. Adewoyin expressed satisfaction with the facilities on the ground and assured staff of his readiness to improve conditions once he fully assumes office.
Dr. Adewoyin also vowed to protect the students’ interests not only during their time at the institution but after graduation as well, focusing on their holistic development and future success.
The newly appointed leadership has set the stage for a new chapter at The Polytechnic Iresi, with a strong commitment to collaboration, development, and excellence in both academic and administrative capacities.
