The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that 21 candidates were found to have submitted fraudulent IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board) results for the 2023 admissions cycle. This revelation came through a policy document obtained in Abuja.
According to JAMB, 12 of these candidates were recommended by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, while a total of five institutions were implicated in the recommendations.
JAMB emphasized that all certificates should bear the signature of the Head of the institution—whether a Vice-Chancellor, Provost, or Rector—to validate their authenticity.
This disclosure follows a detailed investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education.
The investigation uncovered significant irregularities and instances of result forgery within the JUPEB Board and IJMB examination results.
JAMB, in its bulletin, underscored the necessity of taking decisive action against such fraudulent practices. As the governing body overseeing these examinations, JAMB is committed to addressing and rectifying these issues to ensure the integrity of the admissions process.
