The Dangote Refinery has clarified recent reports suggesting that it accused the National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) of failing to supply crude oil.
In a statement released on Thursday, Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer for the company, addressed these misconceptions.
Chiejina stated that the Dangote Refinery has never alleged that NNPC Ltd failed to deliver crude oil. Instead, the company’s concern has consistently centered on the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission’s (NUPRC) perceived reluctance to enforce domestic crude supply obligations.
The refinery has emphasized the need for NUPRC to ensure that it receives the full quantity of crude oil required, both from NNPC Ltd and International Oil Companies (IOCs).
The statement was issued in response to reports claiming that Dangote Refinery had acknowledged NNPC’s supply of about 60 percent of the 50 million barrels it lifted, suggesting a retraction from previous accusations.
The refinery’s clarification underscores its ongoing commitment to securing adequate crude supplies to meet its operational needs.
