The suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele has been arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS).
Emefiele was arrested moments after he was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following investigation on his activities in office and the ongoing reforms in the financial sector.
Emefiele, in the wake of the electioneering, had introduced a controversial naira redesign policy that brought about scarcity of Nigeria’s legal tender.
The policy also occasioned serious hardship to Nigerians who were unable to access their money in the bank.
The arrest of Emefiele might not be unconnected with the economic crisis thrown up by the said Naira redesign and other controversial policies he championed.
