Just In: Exposé on LGBTQ Promoter in Kano Since 2014

Must read

A recent exposé by the Kano Chronicle has unveiled the activities of WISE Nigeria, a non-profit organization based in Kano, which has allegedly been promoting LGBTQ activities in Northern Nigeria since 2014. This revelation has sparked significant controversy, given that any promotion or advocacy related to LGBTQ issues is illegal under Nigerian law.

Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to President Buhari, highlighted this issue on his Twitter account, expressing his gratitude to the Kano Chronicle for their investigative work. He stated, “A big thank you to @KanoChronicle for exposing the dirty and disgusting activities of @WISE_Nigeria, a non-profit organization based in Kano that has been promoting LGBTQ activities in Northern Nigeria.”

Ahmad further emphasized that the activities of WISE Nigeria not only violate the law but also contravene the cultural and societal values of the region. “Since 2014, any promotion or advocacy related to LGBTQ is illegal under the law, and the activities of Wise Nigeria in Kano and other northern states clearly violate this law, and completely contravene our cultures and values,” he added.

In light of these revelations, Ahmad has called for immediate action from the authorities. “We urge the authorities in Kano and at the federal level to investigate their operations and take immediate action to halt these illegal and destructive activities and hold those responsible accountable,” he urged.

Furthermore, Ahmad has called on the Corporate Affairs Commission (@CACNigeria1) to revoke WISE Nigeria’s license, suggesting that the organization likely did not disclose their intention to promote LGBTQ activities during their registration process.

He concluded his statement by tagging key stakeholders and authorities, including @KYusufAbba, @KanoPoliceNG, and @OfficialDSSNG, urging them to take swift action on this matter.

The situation has sparked a heated debate on social media, with various factions expressing their views on the legality and morality of WISE Nigeria’s activities. As the investigation unfolds, many await the official response from the relevant authorities.
