In a bid to alleviate economic hardships across Nigeria, the Federal Government has commenced the distribution of 44,400 bags of rice to all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

This initiative, aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals and families, was announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following a Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu.

Each state and the FCT will receive 20 trucks laden with rice, totaling 1,200 bags of 25kg rice per truck. Minister Idris emphasized that this distribution marks the initial phase of federal assistance to states in addressing economic challenges exacerbated by various factors including inflation and food insecurity.

“The Federal Government remains committed to supporting Nigerians during these difficult times,” Minister Idris stated, underscoring the importance of collaboration between the federal and state governments to ensure the rice reaches those most in need. State authorities are tasked with overseeing the effective distribution of the rice to ensure it reaches vulnerable populations promptly.

This distribution effort comes amidst rising concerns over the economic impact of global and local challenges on ordinary Nigerians. The government’s intervention is expected to provide significant relief, particularly to low-income families and individuals who have been disproportionately affected by recent economic pressures.

As the distribution process unfolds, further updates and details are expected to follow, reflecting the government’s ongoing efforts to mitigate economic hardships and support national stability.
