President Muhammadu Buhari has performed the swearing-In of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
The President performed the swearing-in ceremony, shortly briefly before the commencement of the week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The swearing-In of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola was witnessed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as well as Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, the home State of the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, and Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and the Chairman of the Southwest Governors Forum.
Also seated as witnesses to the ceremony were other Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan; Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd).
Olukayode Ariwoola was sworn in as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria on the 27th of June after the resignation of the Former Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Tanko Muhammed before his confirmation by the National Assembly in September.
He has now been sworn in as the 18th substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.
