In a bold move to tackle unemployment and promote self-reliance, the lawmaker representing Saki West, Saki East and ATISBO federal constituency, Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun (Were), has empowered over 100 youths across his constituency with modern fish farming equipment.
The empowerment programme, which spanned five days, came to a close today, which another batch came to an end on Wednesday. Beneficiaries were trained in practical aquaculture techniques and supported with start-up tools including fish scales, modern ponds, fishing nets, fingerlings, and plumbing materials.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Hon. Kareem described the initiative as part of his commitment to youth development and economic growth in Oyo North. He noted that agriculture, particularly fish farming, remains a sustainable venture that can create jobs, boost food security, and improve livelihoods if embraced with modern practices.
He urged the beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity, stressing that the future of the constituency depends on the creativity and resilience of its young people.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the lawmaker, noting that the training and equipment would not only help them establish profitable ventures but also position them to employ others in the nearest future.
Community leaders and stakeholders present at the event commended Hon. Kareem for his consistency in prioritizing youth empowerment and called on other representatives to emulate the gesture.
With this initiative, the lawmaker once again reinforced his reputation as a leader committed to grassroots empowerment, innovation, and the prosperity of Oyo North.
