The Management of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has strongly refuted a viral social media post alleging that the Council of Legal Education (CLE) has suspended student admissions into its Law programme. The post also falsely claimed that KWASU had been admitting and graduating law students without the necessary accreditation, urging prospective applicants to change their institution of choice.
In a statement issued by the University’s Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee, KWASU clarified that its two undergraduate law programmes – Common Law and Common and Islamic Law – are fully accredited by both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education (CLE). The Registrar emphasized that KWASU received NUC approval to commence the law programmes during the 2018/2019 academic session and secured full accreditation for both in 2021. Additionally, the University obtained CLE accreditation in the same year.
Dr. Sallee further explained that since receiving accreditation from the CLE, KWASU has strictly adhered to the prescribed admission quota of 50 students per session for the 2021/2022, 2022/2023, 2023/2024, and 2024/2025 academic years. The University remains committed to upholding the high standards set by the CLE and continues to operate within the guidelines of its accreditation.
The public is therefore urged to disregard the false information circulating on social media. KWASU’s law programmes remain fully accredited by both the NUC and the CLE, ensuring that students receive a standard legal education in compliance with regulatory requirements.
