The Ilorin Emirate Staff Association at Kwara State University (KWASU) has congratulated Professor Sulaiman Sheu Adua on his appointment as the new Dean of Student Affairs, describing the development as a testament to his lifelong dedication to scholarship, student mentorship, and community development.
In a statement signed by the association’s Chairman, Professor Ibrahim Laro Abubakar, and General Secretary, Dr. Abdullahi A. Bakare, the group expressed pride in Professor Adua’s elevation, applauding what they described as a well-deserved recognition of his decades of academic excellence and service to the institution.

Professor Adua, a renowned scholar of Islamic History, brings over 40 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership to his new role. His academic journey began at the Ghana Institute of Languages, where he earned a High Proficiency Certificate in Arabic in 1981. He continued his studies at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, earning a Diploma in the Teaching of Arabic Language in 1987.
He later pursued advanced studies in Islamic scholarship, culminating in a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from the University of Ilorin in 2012. Adua attained the rank of full Professor at KWASU in 2022, a significant milestone marking his scholarly authority in the fields of Arabic and Islamic studies.

Professor Adua joined KWASU in 2009 as one of its pioneer academics, contributing significantly to the foundation of its academic structures. He played an instrumental role in developing the Islamic Studies and Arabic curriculum and served as a mentor to the university’s early cohorts of students.
He was appointed Chairman of the Student Disciplinary Committee in 2012, where he was credited with upholding high standards of discipline and ethical behavior among students. His tenure in that role was marked by fairness, academic integrity, and student-focused policies.

Professor Adua’s appointment is seen as an affirmation of his longstanding commitment to student development and leadership. Colleagues and students alike have often described him as a mentor who combines intellectual depth with administrative vision.
In their statement, the Ilorin Emirate Staff Association highlighted his “unrelenting commitment to mentoring, education, and institutional progress,” adding that “his track record stands as a beacon of excellence for both staff and students.”

Only recently, Professor Adua delivered a groundbreaking inaugural lecture the first ever by a member of his department drawing widespread attention within and beyond the university community. The lecture attracted dignitaries including Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Bashir Wale Adeniyi (MFR), both of whom are respected figures in Nigeria.

Their attendance, according to observers, signaled the high regard in which Professor Adua is held in academic, professional, and cultural circles.
As he assumes the role of Dean of Student Affairs, expectations are high that Professor Adua will bring fresh ideas and impactful initiatives to student development, welfare, and campus life.

According to Dr. Abdullahi Bakare, “Professor Adua’s leadership will undoubtedly raise the bar of student engagement, conflict resolution, and welfare services in the university. His moral clarity and experience will be critical to navigating the evolving challenges of student administration.”
The Ilorin Emirate community in KWASU expressed confidence that his tenure will usher in “transformative initiatives that will set new standards in student support systems, character development, and academic excellence.”
