Mallam AbdulRahman Abdullahi Kayode, the State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, has called on residents to support the PDP as the party best positioned to effectively utilize local government autonomy for the benefit of the people.
Speaking to reporters on August 15, Kayode emphasized the crucial role that local government autonomy plays in empowering communities and enhancing service delivery.
Kayode stressed that local government autonomy is essential for ensuring that resources and decisions are more closely aligned with the needs of local communities. He argued that empowered local governments are better equipped to address local issues and provide more effective services.
“The PDP is the only party that has consistently championed the cause of local government autonomy. We believe that true progress and development start at the grassroots level,” Kayode said. He underscored that the party’s track record in promoting local governance reforms and strengthening local institutions speaks to its commitment to these principles.
Kayode urged Kwarans to actively participate in the electoral process by voting for opposition parties that support local government autonomy, with the PDP being the primary advocate in this regard. He highlighted the party’s past achievements in promoting local governance reforms and its plans to continue these efforts if elected.
The State Secretary emphasized that the PDP’s commitment to local government autonomy is not just a campaign promise but a core principle that has guided the party’s actions and policies. He assured that, if given the opportunity to lead, the PDP would ensure that local governments are empowered to better serve their communities.
