Makinde Calls for Enhance Collaboration on Food Sufficiency

During the 2024 World Food Day celebration held at the Western Hall of the Agodi Secretariat, Oyo State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde emphasized the need for greater synergy among food production stakeholders to achieve sustainable food sufficiency in the state.

Speaking through the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Governor Makinde highlighted the critical importance of collaboration among all participants in the agricultural sector, particularly farmers.

He urged stakeholders to actively engage in initiatives such as the farm tractorization subsidy and the hiring of extension workers, which are essential for implementing effective farming models.

“Food sufficiency is not just a goal but a necessity for our state’s development,” Governor Makinde stated. He encouraged farmers to take advantage of the available resources and support systems aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity.

The Governor’s address underscored the state’s commitment to advancing its agricultural agenda, which he described as vital for ensuring food security and improving the livelihoods of residents.

He reiterated the government’s dedication to providing necessary tools and training that will empower farmers and promote sustainable farming practices.
