In a strategic move aimed at consolidating party structures ahead of forthcoming political contests, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has formally inaugurated a new slate of state executives, charging them with revitalising grassroots mobilisation, strengthening internal cohesion and positioning the party for electoral resurgence.
The inauguration ceremony, held amid high expectations from party faithful across the state’s three senatorial districts, marked what leaders described as a “new chapter of unity, discipline and strategic engagement” for the APC in Oyo. Party stakeholders, elders and youth representatives were in attendance, underscoring the significance of the transition within the state chapter.
At the apex of the newly constituted executive council is H.E. Moses Alake, who assumes office as State Chairman. Alake pledged to pursue inclusive leadership, reconcile aggrieved factions and deepen the party’s presence at the ward and local government levels.
Supporting him is Dr. Taofeek Lamidi as Deputy Chairman, while Barr. Fatai Adesina takes on the pivotal role of State Secretary. Hon. Lukman Owonikoko was inaugurated as Assistant Secretary.
The party also unveiled senatorial chairmen to coordinate activities across Oyo’s three geopolitical zones: Dr. Joshua Oyebamiji (Oyo Central), Hon. Mojeed Delesolu (Oyo South) and Hon. Tunde Oloyede (Oyo North). Their appointments are seen as critical to harmonising political operations across diverse constituencies within the state.
To reinforce institutional stability and regulatory compliance, Barr. Aborisade Sunday was sworn in as Legal Adviser, with Hon. Saheed Adeagbo as Assistant Legal Adviser.
The financial architecture of the party will be overseen by Hon. Lateef Ajiboye (Treasurer) and Hon. Saliu Dauda Adisa (Assistant Treasurer), alongside Hon. Akanbi Tunde as Financial Secretary and Hon. Wale Adebayo as Assistant Financial Secretary.
In the area of mobilisation and logistics, Hon. Remi Adepoju was appointed Organising Secretary, supported by Chief Jide Leke as Assistant Organising Secretary.
A key component of the APC’s renewed strategy in Oyo will be its public engagement drive. Hon. Olawale Sadare has been named Publicity Secretary, with Fafunmi Mathew serving as Assistant Publicity Secretary. Party insiders suggest that the communications team will focus on reshaping public narratives, articulating policy alternatives and amplifying the party’s message across traditional and digital platforms.
The new executive committee reflects deliberate efforts to incorporate diverse demographics and special interest groups within the party’s structure.
Mrs. Felicia Opatunde was inaugurated as Women Leader, with Hon. Fatima Hassan as Deputy Women Leader. At the senatorial level, women leaders include Mrs. Oyebode Yetunde (Oyo North), Mrs. Adefunke Adeoye (Oyo Central) and Mrs. Mojibade Adetona (Oyo South).
Youth mobilisation will be spearheaded by Hon. Glory Olalekan as Youth Leader and Hon. Sayo Fatoki as Assistant Youth Leader. Complementing them are Olalekan Olowe (Oyo South Senatorial Youth Leader) and Imran Ayinde Olona (Oyo North Senatorial Youth Leader).
In a notable inclusion, Jimoh Osundare was appointed to represent the physically challenged community, reinforcing the party’s stated commitment to broader social representation.
Ensuring transparency and internal checks, Mrs. Tinuade Adigun was sworn in as Auditor, assisted by Hon. Christopher Idowu. Kamaldeen Nageri will serve as Assistant Welfare Officer, tasked with addressing members’ welfare concerns.
Additionally, Akanmu Adebowale, Ejalonibu Fatai Aremu, Asimiyu Kolawole and Odeyemi Simon Oladoyinbo were named Ex-Officio members, expected to provide advisory support and institutional continuity.
Political analysts interpret the comprehensive composition of the executive as a calculated effort to consolidate the APC’s structure in Oyo State, where competition for political dominance has intensified in recent election cycles. By balancing technocratic expertise, grassroots political experience and demographic representation, the party appears poised to recalibrate its strategy.
In his acceptance remarks, Chairman Moses Alake emphasised reconciliation, discipline and issue-based politics as guiding principles of the new leadership. He called on members to eschew factionalism and work collectively toward “reclaiming the state and restoring progressive governance.”
