The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially unveiled the 2025 Hajj fare, with costs varying across the country’s geopolitical zones.
Intending pilgrims from the Southern states are expected to pay N8.78 million, while those from the Borno and Adamawa zones will pay the lowest amount of N8.33 million. Pilgrims from the Northern zone will pay N8.46 million, reflecting a marginal difference in pricing across regions.
The announcement was made by NAHCON’s Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the commission’s Assistant Director of Information and Publication, Fatima Usara.
Prof. Usman noted that the pricing was the result of extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including the presidency, state pilgrims’ welfare boards, and other relevant parties. These deliberations aimed to ensure fairness and inclusivity in determining the fare for the annual pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
“This modest effort was achieved after extensive consultations to ensure inclusivity in the decision-making process,” Usman said in the statement.
The fare structure reflects differences in logistical requirements and associated costs across regions. The Southern states’ higher fare takes into account additional travel and administrative expenses compared to the Northern regions.
NAHCON emphasized the importance of early registration and prompt payment by intending pilgrims to avoid last-minute inconveniences. The commission also urged prospective pilgrims to comply with the guidelines set by Saudi authorities for the Hajj.
In addition to financial preparations, intending pilgrims were encouraged to seek further information on the fare breakdown and related arrangements. NAHCON directed them to visit its official website or contact their respective state pilgrims’ welfare boards for detailed guidance.
The announced fares highlight the commission’s effort to balance affordability and operational viability while considering regional disparities. With the Hajj being a significant spiritual and cultural event for Nigerian Muslims, the pricing underscores NAHCON’s role in facilitating the process amid evolving economic and logistical challenges.
