“Nigeria Needs This Leadership Till 2031” — APC Governors Endorse Tinubu

Must read

The Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) on Thursday, May 22, 2025, formally endorsed the continuity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in office till 2031. This landmark declaration was made during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Policy Summit held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The endorsement, which carries significant weight in the country’s political landscape, was made by the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON. Addressing a gathering of party stalwarts, federal and state legislators, policy experts, and members of the diplomatic corps, Senator Uzodimma praised President Tinubu’s leadership as both visionary and reformative, stating that the current administration represents the most substantial strides toward national development and democratic consolidation since the return to civil rule in 1999.

“The Progressives Governors Forum stands unanimously in favor of the continuity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership beyond 2027, we have witnessed, firsthand, the depth of his governance acumen, the courage of his reforms, and the clarity of his economic vision. It is only prudent that this momentum is sustained through 2031 for the greater good of our federation” Uzodimma declared.

Adding gravitas to the occasion, the Governor of Kwara State and current Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), His Excellency, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, delivered a powerful tribute to the Tinubu administration. He described it as a “transformative era” that Nigeria had long awaited, an epoch defined by structural reforms, infrastructural renewal, fiscal discipline, and an aggressive push for human capital development.

“President Tinubu’s administration has charted a bold course for Nigeria’s rebirth, the removal of unsustainable subsidies, the harmonization of the foreign exchange regime, the reinvigoration of the agricultural and industrial sectors, and the renewed social investment programs are emblematic of a leadership that is both responsive and responsible. Nigeria is indeed in the midst of a transformative era under his guidance”, AbdulRazaq stated.

The APC Summit, themed “Renewed Hope Agenda, The Journey So Far”, also featured panel discussions and policy reviews designed to appraise the impact of the administration’s economic and institutional reforms. Participants noted the substantial progress in revenue mobilization, digital governance, and infrastructure development, particularly in rail, power, and road networks.

Political analysts see the PGF’s endorsement as a significant political signal, one that sets the tone for the 2027 general elections and aligns with growing calls within APC’s grassroots structures for continuity of governance to ensure long-term developmental impact.

The endorsement, however, is expected to stir dynamic political conversations across party lines, with opposition voices likely to challenge the implications for democratic alternation. Nonetheless, within the ruling APC, the resounding consensus from Thursday’s summit suggests an entrenched commitment to President Tinubu’s long-term policy agenda.

The Progressives Governors Forum, comprising all APC governors, has been a crucial pillar of support for the Tinubu administration, actively involved in the implementation of federal policies at the state level. Their endorsement is not only symbolic but also strategic, reinforcing Tinubu’s standing as the party’s unifying figure and policy architect.

As Nigeria navigates its complex socio-economic challenges, the push for continuity signals a broader vision: one that seeks to stabilize the gains made so far, while projecting a future anchored in reform, resilience, and national renewal
