Hon. Niyi Adebisi, the Oyo State Commissioner for Commerce, Investment and Cooperatives, has once again demonstrated compassion, responsive leadership and deep commitment to community and faith-based development with a remarkable humanitarian intervention in Ago-Aare, Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The Commissioner blessed the Chief Imam of Ago-Aare, Sheik Alhaji Sulaiman Adedeji Akewukewe, with the complete restructuring and repair of his vehicle, which had earlier developed serious mechanical faults and had remained.
The vehicle, which was in Lagos at the time of the breakdown, could not be conveyed back to Ago-Aare due to its condition, thereby posing significant mobility challenges for the respected cleric as he prepared to attend to his religious obligations, including the delivery of the weekly Friday sermon (Khutbah).
Hon. Adebisi’s intervention ensured that the vehicle was fully repaired and restored to roadworthy condition, easing the Chief Imam’s movement and enhancing his ability to carry out his spiritual and community duties effectively.
In further demonstration of his support for religious institutions and community growth, Hon. Adebisi also donated cash towards the development of the Ago-Aare Central Mosque. The presentation was made after the Jum’at prayer at the Ago-Aare Central Mosque, where Muslim faithful, Islamic scholars and community stakeholders gathered in large numbers. The gesture followed the Commissioner’s attendance at the remembrance programme held in honour of the late Hon. Jacob Funmi Ogunmola (JFO), a distinguished son of Ago-Aare whose legacy of service, integrity and community development continues to resonate across the region.
Speaking at the mosque shortly after the presentation, Hon. Adebisi described the intervention as part of his commitment to giving back to society and supporting religious leaders who play a pivotal role in promoting peace, moral discipline and social cohesion. He stressed that empowering clerics and strengthening places of worship remain essential to sustaining unity and ethical values within communities.
In his response, the Chief Imam of Ago-Aare, Sheik Alhaji Sulaiman Adedeji Akewukewe, expressed deep appreciation to the Commissioner for the timely and impactful gesture, offering prayers for divine guidance, protection and continued success in his public service. He noted that the intervention would significantly ease his pastoral responsibilities and contribute positively to the spiritual and social well-being of the community.
