The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has successfully conducted its 2025 Party Congress in Saki West Local Government, producing a new set of executive committee members through a consensus arrangement. The congress, which was part of the party’s wider reorganization strategy across local governments in the state, reflected unity, inclusiveness, and a shared commitment to strengthening grassroots political structures ahead of future electoral contests.
According to the official list released, Mr. Nurudeen Idris from Ward 5 emerged as the Local Government Chairman, while Mr. Ayemojuba Abdulah from Ward 7 was elected as Deputy Chairman. Other key officers include Mr. Olanrewaju Laurence O. (Secretary, Ward 2), Mr. Tiamiyu Razak (Assistant Secretary, Ward 8), and Mrs. Babarinde Toyin (Treasurer, Ward 3).
The congress also produced Hon. Salami Waheed A. (Ward 10) as Financial Secretary, Mr. Oyewumi Sulaiman (Ward 9) as Organizing Secretary, and Mr. Salaudeen Sarafadeen (Ward 11) as Publicity Secretary, while Mr. Ogunwale Rafiu (Ward 4) was named Assistant Publicity Secretary.
In addition, Mr. Mikail Bagbansoro (Ward 8) was endorsed as Auditor, Mr. Ismail Abdul Fatai (Ward 4) as Legal Adviser, and Mrs. Kazeem Saidat Ayoka (Ward 6) as Woman Leader. Mr. Olanrewaju Paul Seyi (Ward 1) took the mantle of Youth Leader.
The structure was further reinforced with the appointment of five Ex-officio members across wards, including Mr. Wale Aremo, Mr. Gbadamosi Mukaila Olumide, Mr. Jimoh Rasaq A., Mrs. Kakako Fa’liat, and Mrs. Nurudeen Fasilat, ensuring equitable representation of both genders in line with the party’s inclusivity drive.
Significantly, the party also ratified the nomination of Dr. Adbwasi Musah as the National Delegate from Saki West Local Government, a role that positions him to represent the local chapter at national deliberations.
Party leaders described the consensus exercise as a demonstration of PDP’s internal cohesion in Oyo State, particularly in Saki West, where political stakeholders, ward leaders, and grassroots mobilizers had previously emphasized the need for harmony. The process, devoid of rancor, was hailed as a model for conflict-free political engagement, with expectations that the elected executive committee will foster stronger party administration and closer ties with the electorate.
