In a remarkable demonstration of royal commitment to education and youth development, the Okere of Sakiland, Oba Dr. Surv. Khalid Olabisi Ilugbemidepo, has fulfilled his pledge to sponsor WAEC examination fees for students from two prominent secondary schools in his domain.
The monarch, who made the initial promise during the 2025 Bere Festival celebrations, has successfully paid the WAEC fees for 24 students – 14 from Baptist High School Saki and 10 from Community Secondary School Otun.
The scholarship beneficiaries from Baptist High School Saki include Olanrewaju Solomon, Nefiu Serifideen, Adeniyi Joseph, Adebiyi Taiwo, Adebiyi Kehinde, Alabi Mary, Lasisi Ajarat, Olayiwola Ayanfe Mary, Okunlade Naimot Omowumi, Amidu Kalilat, Mukiala Aliyat, Bwegi Mary, Bashiru Amieedat, and Muritala Usman.
From Community Secondary School Otun, the recipients are Najeimudeen Aishat, Ayodele Damola, Lateeef Hummu, Oredegbe Badirah, Shittu Aishat, Ojubanire Alilat, Rafiu Aishat, Agboola Lydia, Hassan Abubakir, and Auda Aliu.
This gesture underscores Oba Ilugbemidepo’s dedication to removing financial barriers that often prevent brilliant students from taking their final secondary school examinations. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examination is a crucial milestone for students seeking to advance to tertiary education or pursue various career opportunities.
The timing of this fulfillment demonstrates the monarch’s reliability and genuine concern for the educational advancement of youths in Sakiland. By shouldering this financial burden, His Royal Majesty has given these 24 students an invaluable opportunity to focus on their studies and examination preparation without the anxiety of unpaid fees.
