Commends Makinde on Security
Towards ensuring peaceful atmosphere in his jurisdiction, The Chairman of Saki West LG, Engr Sarafadeen Ahmed Ominrinde has sent a warning signal to the organisers of Yoruba Nation mega rally in Saki to stop the plan in the interest of peace.
Omirinde made this known at an enlarge meeting of the Local Government authority, security agencies, Saki Parapo Association Executives and representatives of Yoruba Nation held at the LG secretariat.
The Chairman who frowned at the proposed rally slated to hold next Thursday in Saki said, “the government and good people of the LG are against the rally, considering the security challenges facing our Nation as a result the rally will not be allowed in this LG.”
According to him “Nigeria is one, with more than two hundred ethnics, as a result, is better we remain as one entity, in view of this we are not going to allow lawlessness in this local government. And all security apparatus have been put in place to ensure that the planned rally is not allowed ” he warned.
Omirinde used the opportunity to praise the state government under the able leadership of His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde for the proactive measure taken to arrest the security challenge along Iseyin – Ipapo road, where kidnappers struck recently. The area is now under control.
In their separate remarks Chief (Dr) Dayo Adejumobi and Alhaji Jubril Makanjuola the National President and home branch Chairman of Saki Parapo Association respectively frowned at the organisers of the rally for using the name of the Association as co-organiser without thier consent, they said the association will never be involved in such illegal rally.
The Association therefore throw their support for the decision reached at the meeting not to allow the rally.
While speaking on behalf of the Police Force in the LG, the DCO, SP Okunola Moses said the organiser will sign an undertaking that they will not go ahead with the planned rally.
Earlier in their appeal, Rev Dr Olu Alade, Baba ọdẹ o daro, Sanusi Adebayo, Adeleke Adekunle and Isa Ademola who represented the Yoruba Nation appealed to the government and security agencies that the rally will be peaceful and this was rejected at the meeting.
Present at the meeting were Hon Fasasi Quadri Amao; Leader of the House, Alhaji Ganiyu Okearan, Chief of Staff and Mr Oluokun, DPO, Saki West LG.
Others were Alhaji R.A Lawal, National Vice President, Saki Parapo Association, Mr Ojuawo Elisha, Amotekun Sakí LG, Mr J.O Ojo, Deputy Director of Admin and General services and Alhaji Dauda Aderogba, Head of Information Unit, Saki West LG.
