The memory of the late former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Hon. Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu, was honoured on Monday as family members, political associates, community leaders, and dignitaries gathered for his one-year remembrance ceremony held at the Baptist Primary School field, Otu, Itesiwaju Local Government Area.
At the well-attended event, Dr. Gbenga Adegbola, Oyo State Governor hopeful, underscored his commitment to sustaining the ideals and legacy of the late party leader by donating the sum of ₦1 million in support of the scholarship programme instituted in Omodewu’s honour.
The scholarship scheme, initiated by the remembrance committee, currently caters to the educational needs of 17 beneficiaries. Conceived as a platform to promote learning and provide opportunities for indigent youths, the programme reflects the late Omodewu’s enduring passion for education, empowerment, and human capital development.
In his remarks, Dr. Adegbola praised the foresight of the organising committee and urged fellow dignitaries, political leaders, and stakeholders across Oyo State and beyond to contribute generously to the fund. According to him, expanding the reach of the initiative would not only deepen its impact but also stand as a living tribute to Omodewu’s legacy of service and compassion.
“Hon. Omodewu was a leader driven by purpose, humanity, and a genuine passion for uplifting others,” Dr. Adegbola said. “By supporting this scholarship scheme, we are not only immortalising his ideals but also giving practical meaning to his vision for a society where no child is denied access to education due to financial constraints.”
Describing the late APC chairman as a “dedicated and principled leader whose legacy continues to inspire within and beyond Oyo State,” Dr. Adegbola reaffirmed his resolve to work with other stakeholders in ensuring the continuity and growth of the initiative.
The remembrance ceremony featured tributes, prayers, and goodwill messages from friends, associates, and community members, all highlighting Omodewu’s enduring influence on politics and grassroots development in Oyo State.
