The race for the 2026 Osun governorship election is heating up, and a familiar name has taken center stage—Senator Iyiola Omisore.
A former aide to ex-Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Jamiu Olawumi, has thrown his weight behind Omisore, describing him as the most formidable contender within the All Progressives Congress (APC) capable of unseating Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Olawumi called on party stakeholders to rally around Omisore as a consensus candidate, warning that divisive primaries could fracture the APC and hand Adeleke an easy victory. He argued that Omisore’s long political journey—spanning his tenure as Deputy Governor (1999–2003) and two-term Senator who once chaired the powerful Appropriations Committee—marks him as a man who has “paid his dues” and is prepared to lead.
“If APC truly wants to reclaim power in 2026, the answer is simple: unite behind Omisore,” Olawumi declared.
Meanwhile, Omisore has intensified his grassroots consultations, moving from palaces of traditional rulers to meetings with opinion leaders and party faithful across the state. His message is clear: building consensus, repositioning Osun, and restoring APC to government.
