As part of its efforts to support building development and improve the state of physical planning, the Oyo State Government has acceded to the yearnings of its people by approving a revised tax downward regime for Town Planning Approvals.

The State Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Olusegun Olayiwola, gave the hint during a Press Conference organised by the Ministry; noting that the State Government would ensure zero tolerance to illegal development and promote policies that would uplift the State’s economy.

The Commissioner added that the State Government maintains its stand and condemns in totality building without an approved plan, illicit development activities without adherence to planning standards, arbitrary dumping of refuse, street trading, and on-the-road parking.

He also stressed that the State Government will not permit building on flood plains and blockage of waterways, buildings under high tension power lines, or encroachment on planning setbacks, among others.

On the reduced tax fee for building plan approval, category A has all the 11 Local Government Councils in Ibadan, and are expected to pay a sum of 50, 000Naira for building plan approval; while the Local Government councils in Oyo are captured in category B, and builders in this category are expected to pay 30,000 Naira, and builders or developers in the third categories would also pay 600 as development fees.
