The Oyo State Government has officially announced the commencement dates for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the Common Entrance Examination into public Junior Secondary Schools across the state, reaffirming its commitment to upholding academic excellence and integrity in the education sector.
In a statement released by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olayiwola Olusegun, the BECE has been scheduled to hold from Monday, July 7 to Wednesday, July 16, 2025. The examination will begin daily at 9:30 a.m. and will take place within the respective schools of the registered candidates.
Hon. Olayiwola further disclosed that the 2025 Screening and Placement Exercise, widely referred to as the Common Entrance Examination for prospective Junior Secondary School students, will take place on Thursday, July 17, 2025, commencing by 7:00 a.m. at designated screening centres across the state.
The Commissioner urged all participating students to attend their respective examination centres fully equipped with the necessary writing materials. He also called on school principals and administrators to ensure proper coordination and supervision of the examination process throughout its duration.
In an effort to preserve the sanctity and credibility of the examinations, Hon. Olayiwola announced that officials from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, alongside members of the Oyo State Examination Ethics Committee, will be actively monitoring the conduct of the examinations at various centres.
“The integrity of our examination process is non-negotiable,” the Commissioner emphasized. “All students are strongly advised to refrain from any form of examination malpractice. Additionally, parents, guardians, and members of the public are strictly warned against unnecessary presence or loitering around the schools and designated screening centres during the examination periods.”
He reiterated that the Screening/Placement Examination is strictly for eligible and duly registered candidates, underscoring the government’s zero-tolerance policy for any form of irregularity.
The statement was formally endorsed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, who urged media platforms to assist in disseminating the information widely for the benefit of all stakeholders.
