The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has inaugurated a fresh team of state executives, tasked with steering the affairs of the party and consolidating its influence ahead of future elections. The new leadership, elected through the party’s congress, reflects a blend of experienced politicians and emerging voices across the state’s three senatorial districts.
At the helm is Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, who emerged as the State Chairman, supported by Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, the State Deputy Chairman, and Hon. Oyelami Oyeyemi Joel, the newly elected State Secretary. Together, this leadership trio is expected to provide strategic direction, strengthen internal cohesion, and expand the party’s outreach across Oyo’s diverse political landscape.
The PDP also announced the zonal senatorial chairmen, with Hon. Yusuf Adekunle (Oyo North), Alhaji Kamorudeen Adeyemi (Oyo South), and Hon. Oludayo Opatokun (Oyo Central) entrusted with coordinating the party’s activities at the grassroots level in their respective zones.
Media engagement and public affairs will be driven by Mr. Micheal Ogunsina, the State Publicity Secretary, assisted by Hon. Oluyinka Moses Tella as the Assistant Publicity Secretary. In line with the party’s tradition of inclusivity, Hon. Kazeem Olalekan Bello takes up the mantle as State Youth Leader, while Mrs. Toyin Olaniran assumes the position of State Women Leader, both supported by deputies across the three senatorial districts.
Other key positions include Hon. Bankole Sunday as State Treasurer, Alhaja Wulemot Ibitoye as State Organizing Secretary, Barr. Durosaro Dapo Eedris as State Legal Adviser, Hon. Akinsola Ayuba as State Auditor, and Hon. Mufu Ogunremi as State Financial Secretary.
A strong team of assistants was also unveiled, ensuring every senatorial zone is adequately represented. These include Barr. Olabode Durodola (Assistant Legal Adviser), Hon. Lawal Mohammed (Assistant Auditor), Hon. Adekunle Olukayode (Assistant Financial Secretary), and senatorial-based assistant treasurers, secretaries, women leaders, and youth leaders.
The executive council is rounded out by Ex-Officio members: Hon. Lukman Adesina, Hon. Kunmi Adesina, Hon. Adebisi Dupe Temileyi, Hon. Ayanbamiji Sunday, Barr. Waheed Gbadegesin, and Mr. Akano Raphael Taiwo, whose roles will focus on advisory functions and strengthening party unity.
Speaking after the inauguration, the new chairman, Hon. Ogungbenro, pledged to uphold the values of inclusiveness, transparency, and service to the people. He emphasized that the executives’ priority will be consolidating the PDP’s stronghold in Oyo State while ensuring that young people, women, and grassroots stakeholders are fully represented in party decisions.
