In a heartfelt and resolute message to commemorate this year’s International Workers’ Day, Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun, the Honourable Member representing Saki West, Saki East, and Atisbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has lauded the unwavering spirit, dedication, and industriousness of workers across his constituency and the nation at large.
Describing workers as the “lifeblood of national development,” Hon. Abisodun expressed profound gratitude for their invaluable contributions to the growth and stability of local communities and Nigeria’s economy. He recognized the vital roles played by workers across all sectors—from agriculture to education, healthcare to commerce, and public service to private enterprise—emphasizing that their labor underpins the nation’s progress and social cohesion.
“Today, we do not only celebrate the labor of our people; we honour their resilience, integrity, and sacrifices in the face of economic, social, and infrastructural challenges,” Hon. Abisodun stated. “Our farmers, traders, teachers, health workers, artisans, and civil servants continue to demonstrate exceptional commitment to duty, and for this, they deserve not only recognition but lasting structural support.”
Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of workers, Hon. Abisodun emphasized the need for sustained legislative advocacy towards improving working conditions, ensuring fair and competitive remuneration, and expanding access to skill development and career progression opportunities. He called on all stakeholders—government at all levels, private sector leaders, and labor unions—to work collaboratively in creating a more equitable and enabling environment for the Nigerian workforce.
“As your representative, I remain unwavering in my pursuit of policies and programs that advance workers’ rights and socioeconomic wellbeing,” he said. “The dignity of labor must be upheld, and every worker must feel empowered, protected, and valued.”
Hon. Abisodun concluded his address with a rallying call for unity, diligence, and patriotic fervor, urging workers to continue upholding the values of hard work, service, and national pride.
