The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Saki West Local Government Chapter, has strongly condemned the recent allegations leveled against Governor Seyi Makinde by Hon. Shittu Ibrahim, member representing Saki West Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, over the controversial loan secured by the state government.
In a statement jointly signed by prominent PDP stakeholders from Saki West, the party described Hon. Ibrahim’s remarks as “baseless, politically motivated, and a desperate attempt to discredit the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.”
Governor’s Track Record in Saki and Oyo State
The statement highlighted what it called Governor Makinde’s “transformational strides” across the state, with particular emphasis on Saki and other Oke-Ogun communities.
The party listed major projects executed by the governor, including Dualization of the 9-kilometer Saki Township Road, Construction of the Saki–Ogboro–Igboho Road, Street and market electrification under the Lighting Up Saki initiative, Upgrading of the Saki General Hospital to a State Hospital, with the recruitment of nurses, doctors, and health workers,
Others include Recruitment of teachers and non-academic staff into primary and secondary schools, Construction of the Saki Stadium and renovation of the OYSADA Headquarters, Establishment of a Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Saki.
“These projects reflect the governor’s commitment to economic growth, infrastructure renewal, and social welfare,” the statement read. “They are concrete evidence that the recently secured loan will further drive sustainable development in Oyo State.”
The PDP leaders went further to question Hon. Ibrahim’s credibility, accusing him of neglecting his legislative responsibilities. According to the statement, the lawmaker has attended less than 20 percent of plenary sessions in the 10th Assembly, making him the “least active member.”
The statement alleged that Ibrahim has repeatedly absented himself from critical sittings, including budget presentations and the governor’s state of the state addresses. He was also said to have boycotted the Assembly’s oversight visit to all 33 local government areas, which was described as “a dereliction of duty and betrayal of his constituency’s trust.”
“Given his poor performance and consistent absenteeism, Hon. Shittu Ibrahim has lost the moral right to question policies that are clearly in the interest of the people,” the statement declared. “His recall and suspension are only a matter of time.”
The PDP chapter commended Governor Makinde for what it described as “a visionary and courageous decision” in pursuing the loan facility, which they said would accelerate infrastructural development and improve the socio-economic conditions of citizens across Oyo State.
“Governor Makinde has proven to be a beacon of hope and a responsive leader. The loan initiative is not a liability, but an investment in the future of Oyo State,” the statement affirmed.
The Saki West PDP urged members of the party and residents of Oyo State to rally behind the governor, reject distractions, and remain steadfast in support of his administration.
“Governor Makinde’s legacy is being built on tangible achievements, not empty rhetoric. The people of Oyo State must remain united in preserving this progress,” the statement concluded.
The statement was endorsed by prominent PDP leaders in Saki West, including Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi, Hon. Niyi Adebisi, Hon. Gbenga Akinola, Hon. Adekunle Tunji Rafiu, Hon. Femi Julius, Chief Isaac Koleosho, Hon. Musah Wasiu, Alhaji Lateef Salami, Alhaji Dauda Alaraje, Barr. Sarafadeen Onijo, Alhaji Waheed Oluwakemi, and Barr. Hazzan Ajibade.
